TECHNICIAN I/II/III

Wage per Current Labor Contract

Description of Position:

Technician employees will maintain all ICTC vehicles in a safe, efficient and effective running order. They will also repair and service vehicles under contract with other governmental entities.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the maintenance
  • Notify the Lead Technician, Transportation Manager, Dispatcher, Lead Dispatcher, (Deputy) Executive Director of all serious vehicle, radio or building defects.
  • Maintain current records on all ICTC vehicles, contract maintenance vehicles and
  • Maintain maintenance on all equipment, such as jacks, hoist, air compressors, tools along with building and
  • Provided preventative maintenance on a required basis (miles, hours or days).
  • Maintenance on ICTC vehicle as not to jeopardize the safety of the public or ICTC
  • Perform related  work  as  required  (body  and  paint)  of  the  ICTC  vehicles  to  maintain  the appearance of the ICTC
  • Experience in the use of hand, electric and air
  • Experience in gas, wire and arc
  • Respond to emergency road request on ICTC

Standards and Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Must have graduated from an accredited high school graduate or equivalent.

The successful candidate will pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical by approved medical facility.

The successful candidate will possess a Commercial Driver’s License with a P endorsement, have a minimum one year experience (Technician III) OR minimum two years’ experience (Technician II) in vehicle maintenance and will possess a State of Michigan Certification in various vehicle maintenance fields, OR 3+ years’ experience with Master Certification in Heavy Duty Truck.

The successful candidate in Technician I, II, or III, will show a willingness to accept advanced training in vehicle maintenance or other training deemed useful by ICTC Management and will be able to show a satisfactory attendance record.  The Technician I will demonstrate performance and ability to work without supervision, as evaluated by the Maintenance Manager and Executive Director.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a valid Michigan Commercial Driver’s License with the approved endorsements to legally operate all ICTC vehicles.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of fleet maintenance with prior
  • Understanding of vehicle equipment and building maintenance.

  • Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with co-workers, supervision, public officials, vendors and the general
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules to accommodate ICTC
  • Maintain current records on all ICTC vehicles, contract maintenance vehicles and
  • Maintain maintenance on all equipment, such as, jacks, hoist, air compressors, tools along with building and
  • Provide preventative maintenance on a required basis (daily, weekly or mileage).
  • Maintenance of ICTC vehicles as not to jeopardize the safety of the public or ICTC
  • Perform related  work  as  required  (body  and  paint)  of  the  ICTC  vehicles  to  maintain  the appearance of the ICTC
  • Any other activities as required by management.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform job functions.
  • Must be able to physically stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb steps, crouch, handle or move
  • Must be able to lift up to 50
  • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions.

Other Job Requirements:

  • Subject to random drug testing per ICTC’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy and Over-the-Counter and Prescription Drug
  • Subject to periodic driving record check through the Department of State Bureau of Driver & Vehicle Record Lookup.
  • Attend seminars, training and meetings as instructed by the Executive Director.
  • Attend all employee meetings as required.
